These super simple Oreo truffles only use 4 simple ingredients to make. They are rich, tasty, and also fun! The truffle filling couldn’t be simpler with just crushed Oreos and some cream cheese, you might even have those around the house already.

Do Oreo truffles need to be refrigerated?

Oreo truffles should be refrigerated. Since they are made with cream cheese, which is perishable, storing them in the refrigerator helps maintain their freshness and prevents them from spoiling.

Additionally, refrigeration helps the truffles hold their shape and texture, especially if they are coated in chocolate. Be sure to store them in an airtight container to prevent them from absorbing any odors from other foods in the fridge.

How long do Oreo truffles last?

Ghost Oreo truffles typically last for about 1 to 2 weeks when stored properly in an airtight container in the refrigerator. However, the exact shelf life can depend on factors such as the freshness of the ingredients used and how well they are sealed to prevent exposure to air and moisture.

It’s best to consume them within this timeframe for the best taste and texture. If you need to store them for longer periods, you can freeze them

Can I freeze Oreo truffles?

You can freeze Oreo truffles. Freezing them is a great option if you want to make them ahead of time or if you have leftovers that you want to preserve for later. Here’s how to freeze Oreo truffles properly:

  • After preparing the truffles, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper, ensuring they are not touching each other.
  • Place the baking sheet in the freezer and let the truffles freeze until they are firm, which usually takes about 1 to 2 hours.
  • Once the truffles are frozen solid, transfer them to an airtight container or freezer bag. If using a container, you can separate layers of truffles with parchment paper to prevent them from sticking together.
  • Label the container or bag with the date and contents for easy identification.
  • Store the frozen truffles in the freezer for up to 2 to 3 months.

When you’re ready to enjoy the frozen truffles, simply thaw them in the refrigerator overnight before serving. This gradual thawing process helps maintain their texture and prevents condensation from forming on the surface, which can cause them to become soggy. Once thawed, you can enjoy the Oreo truffles just like fresh ones!

Now let’s get to making these fun and festive treats!

Ingredients

  • 35 Oreos
  • 1 8 oz pkg cream cheese room temp
  • 1 pkg White Candy Melts White Chocolate Chips or Almond Bark
  • Black Writing Gel or Candy Eyes

Instructions

  • In a food processor or blender, blend oreos until you have crumbs.
  • Add in the cream cheese and blend until combined.
  • Using a cookie scoop, scoop out the dough and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer for 10-15 minutes until the dough has firmed up. This makes it easier to work with the dough.
  • While the Oreo truffles are in the freezer, melt the candy melts, white chocolate chips or almond bark.
  • Remove the truffles from the freezer, roll each ball of dough out into the shape of a ghost. Then, using a fork, coat the entire truffle, setting back onto the parchment paper. If you are using candy eyes for the eyes, be sure to place them on while the chocolate is still tacky.
  • Once you have completed this step allow the chocolate to harden. Once the chocolate is firm use the black writing gel to create the eyes and the mouth.
