Biscuits are my jam. See what I did there? But no, seriously, my grandma was the biscuit queen of the world. My mom makes great biscuits too. And I probably cut my teeth on biscuits as a baby. We are southern. And biscuits reign supreme.

So any time I can find a great new way to enjoy biscuits, I jump on it. That familiar warm, soft, buttery texture gets me every time. And we have really been enjoying making these caramel apple biscuits because it’s a bread AND a dessert. What could be better?

Caramel Apple Biscuits

Buttery, flaky biscuits with sweet caramelized apples. Bake them, and turn them over for a culinary delight!

Ingredients

Caramel Apple Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 3 cups apples chopped
  • ¾ cup pecans chopped

Biscuit Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6 TBS butter
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a cupcake pan and set aside.
  • In a saucepan heat raw sugar, butter, and milk whisking until butter has fully melted.
  • Let sauce come to a boil and reduce for 5 minutes.
  • Add apple to caramel sauce and cook apples down for another five minutes, remove from heat, and set aside to cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut butter into flour mixture until well incorporated.
  • Add milk to butter and flour mixture and mix with a fork until dough forms.
  • Separate dough into twelve equal pieces.
  • To assemble, place 1 TBS of chopped pecans in each cupcake.
  • Spoon ¼ cup of the apple mixture on top of the pecans.
  • Take each piece of dough, roll and flatten to the shape of a biscuit and place on the top of the apple mixture.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown.
  • Turn out biscuits on a cooling rack to cool.
