Dark chocolate poke cake with marshmallow frosting is a dream come true for chocolate lovers. Each bite is packed with decadent chocolate filled with dark chocolate, and topped with even more chocolate. And the ooey gooey marshmallow frosting tops it all!
And you use pre-made cake mix, so it’s an easy dessert that’s great for fall too! Poke cakes are simple and delicious. You can start with a boxed cake mix or put together the ingredients for a homemade cake, and add the other ingredients.
Once it’s mixed and baked up, you poke holes in the top of the cake. You can do it with a rod, a tube, or the end of a wooden spoon. Anything you have that’s round will be fine. Those holes make the pockets for the dark chocolate yum yum that goes inside. It’s gooey and creamy and a good way to feed your chocolate obsession. One of the best cake recipes you’ll try!
Vanilla paste is thicker and more concentrated than vanilla extract. But either one will work. I don’t keep vanilla paste around, but when I do have it, I love to use it. When I don’t, I use my homemade vanilla. Homemade extracts have so much more flavor and many store bought extracts are full of chemicals that none of us want in our bodies.
Let’s take the time to talk about butter! Butter is king! Don’t you dare come near any of my recipes with yucky ole margarine. Margarine is chemicals and not food. It’s also not very tasty and has a lot of water in it. So it will water down your flavors and mess up your batters every time. Just get the butter! I know, I had all those excuses in the olden days too, but I’ve seen the light and realized the error of my ways. Drink the butter Koolaid!
